DEFIBRILLATOR INITIATIVE

Has your basketball club or school got a defibrillator on site and people trained in how to use it and trained in CPR?

The Joe Kavanagh Foundation is launching an initiative in association with Basketball Ireland, whereby basketball clubs and schools can purchase a defibrillator and get training for eight people for the excellent cost of €1,000.

Each year there are approximately 6,000 sudden cardiac deaths in Ireland. Having a defibrillator on site within two minutes there can be an 80% chance of survival. Many lives can be saved if CPR is performed immediately and a defibrillator is accessible.

Safety Ireland will be the providers of the defiibrillator and training. They are Ireland's largest Safety and Healthcare Training Company, accredited by FETAC and the Irish Heart Foundation.

HEARTSAVER AED COURSE
The Heartsaver AED Course teaches you the basic techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and the relief of choking for adults, children and infants. An AED is a computerised defibrillator which analyses the heart rhythm of a person in cardiac arrest and uses voice prompts to advise you if a shock is needed. The AED is an important link in the chain of survival and this course teaches you how to use them effectively. The Heartsaver AED Course takes approximately 3 1⁄2 hours to complete and you will receive an Irish Heart Foundation / American Heart Association course completion card upon successfully completing the course.
Maximum Participants: 8 per Instructor
